What's New

Maggie AndersonAn awakening begins. I can't believe April almost slipped me by without my newsletter going out! This month has had its share of ups and downs for my family. But we are holding strong. The experiences have with them the ability to drive us further deeper into our ego and into our story. However, if you try even just a little bit (say as much as a mustard seed or belief and effort ;)) to remain conscious and be in the present moment of tranquility and most of all connection. Connection to the Divine.

The moon is in its waxing stage and for many of us, especially me, it's a more powerful time as each day gets closer to the full moon. Something sparked a few days ago and I'm feeling more connected once again to the Divine. It made me realize I haven't been meditating as much as I used to. This is the one thing that truly keeps me in the most connected state possible. Yes, I do yoga. Yes, I do daily energy work. But I haven't been connected within much lately to that peaceful space inside. And that is a shame. Knowing what I know and knowing that at least a few minutes a day of meditation will get me back to centered peaceful awareness and connection, it's time again to connect. As we are in this more connected state, we move from here. You can face challenges and life in general with more ease. It's as if life is working better for you as well. The more we just sit in stillness (even with soothing music or not) the better and deeper we can connect to the true aware energy beings that we are. It's time to awaken once again. Happy end of April! Let's enjoy our entrance into May Flowers!

Yoga Pose of the Month
Downward-Facing Dog (Downdog) Pose

Downdog Yoga Pose - Maggie AndersonThe most common yoga pose around! Nicknamed, Down Dog, this is a perfect inverted "V" in the body. It's great for aligning the spine, elongated the back, legs and arms. This pose can really open up the chest and heart as well.

Okay, so usually you are on a flat surface, not working your way over a little river. :) But I loved doing it and the pose is so awesome! What's nice it this still illustrates the perfect pose for Down Dog. You'll find this pose in most yoga classes and most commonly used in a Sun Salutations and vinyasa sequences.

It's a beautiful transitionary pose as you flow into one pose or out of another. Eventually, this pose becomes your resting pose. When you first start out it may not feel that way. But eventually you will long for a Down Dog as you evolve in your yoga practice. I practice the Five Tibetans (an ancient Tibetan practice also known as the Fountain of Youth) every morning and this, in combination with Upward Facing Dog, is one of the five. It just feels so good!

You will enjoy more challenging postures and then come into this pose and stretch your *whole* body in the process. Not only that, but Down Dog:

  • Calms the brain
  • Helps relieve stress and mild depression
  • Helps relieve the symptoms of menopause
  • Relieves menstrual discomfort when done with the head supported
  • Helps prevent osteoporosis
  • Improves digestion
  • Relieves headaches, insomnia, back pain, and fatigue
  • And it is therapeutic for high blood pressure, asthma, flat feet, sciatica, and sinusitis

It's just all-around excellent for your health. Why would you *not* do this pose during your yoga practice. :) Enjoy!!!

Directions on how to come into the pose:
Begin in Child's pose (knees on ground, slide hips back to meet heels and rest head on mat). Then slowly rise up, keep hands on mat slightly forward from shoulders and knees under hips. Begin to lift your knees off the mat and straighten the legs making an inverted V position with your body. Push up up up through the tailbone. Allow your heels to reach for the mat (they do not need to touch but if and when they do, see if you can lift your toes off the mat, but only if heels are touching the mat). No air bubbles in those hands, fingers wide and hands shoulder width apart. Feet are hip distance. Shoulders are wide and back and away from the ears. Press the chest down as if reaching for your thighs, open the heart. Lift high from the tailbone to the sky. Elongate the spine and feel the stretch. Breathe deeply. Hold for 3-5 deep cleansing breaths. Allow your head to hang loose and drink your breath.

Hold for five deep breaths. To come out, perhaps you can drop your knees down onto the mat and slide your hips back to your heels, coming back into Child's pose. Rest here. This is a pose you can do whenever Down-Dog becomes a bit much. But as you strengthen your body, you will be able to hold Down-Dog longer and enjoy it more fully and deeply. Slide your hands up to your knees sitting up and roll out your wrists. Down Dog works a lot in the wrists, so it's helpful to loosing them up.

When not to do this pose or to modify / Contraindications:
Be leary of practicing this pose if you have carpal tunnel syndrome or symptom of Diarrhea. And it's not recommended to do this pose if you are in your late-term of pregnancy. If you have high blood pressure or a headache, try to modify this pose by supporting your head on a bolster or block, ears level between the arms.

Inspire You Article
Stop Listening!

EmbraceStop listening to the negative voices around you. Stop listening to the embedded negative voice within you. Stop listening to those around you that say there are no jobs, you can't have that, you can't do this, etc. Stop listening to the negative voices around you! Make that change. Shift your internal voice and listen to the positive uplifting divine self within! Remove yourself from negative people, situations and places whenever and wherever possible. Shut your ears off to negativity. Open your heart to possibility, positivity and options galore!

I implore you to take a challenge with me! Take a 21-day negativity fast with me! That's right. This fast isn't about food. It's about removing yourself from negativity for 21 beautiful days! Whenever something negative comes up or is said to you by someone else or especially by yourself to yourself, shift your thinking to that of a positive outcome or simply to the Light of the Divine within you. Shift your thinking for 21 days! You will start to notice a beautiful new vibrancy within you. As you think more uplifted and positive, your energy gets uplifted. You raise your vibrations to a new level! It takes the brain 21 days to change a habit. So take this challenge. Change the negative mind thoughts to positive ways of thinking and being. This is the beginning of removing your mind thoughts to connect more deeply to the Soul within you. Make that shift today.

Yes, challenging things will happen. Obstacles will occur but it's how we react to them that counts. It's how we think and move through these challenges. You will begin to embrace challenges as a way to show how much you have grown and are continuing to evolve! We can choose to get down and listen to negative thoughts and get in a downward spiral for more negativity and therefore, by the law of attraction, receive more negative experiences in our life to continue to feel that negative way. Or we can shift our thinking and way of feeling and being. We can become uplifted and move with life. Go with the flow of life and find the stillness within; that peaceful divine place that is always untouched. And move through life from here. As we move through life in this new divinely connected space we have raised our vibrations, we are uplifted, we are connected, and life is easier. Challenges are moved through faster and simpler. You grow at a faster divine rate and connect more deeply to everything, everyone and to the All That Is. Amazing!

Now there are two voices within us. It's helpful to discern between that negative voice, the ego, and from the Divine intuition that speaks to us often. The ego voice is usually negative, abrupt, fearful and worrisome. Always thinking about the past or the future and feels fearfully rushed. On the flip side, our Divine voice that sends us messages constantly is gentle, soothing, uplifting and filled with guidance. Never pushing us into anything, only suggested and giving sometimes subtle and other times loud guidance. Always a Divine connection is felt. Take a moment and hear your emotions and feel those feelings. These are messages being sent to you to listen to. Discern between the two voices and listen to the stillness within. Move from here.

It's time to stop listening to negativity and listen to our deepest Soul while working with the Universal Law of Attraction to make things work for us in an uplifting and Divinely connected way. We are all here for a purpose and our primary purpose is to find the connection that's always within us to God/Divine/Spirit. Our secondary purpose is to express the Divine through us in a way that we are Divine Inspired to do so. It's what you are driven to do and be. This is one way to keep us on our journey at an accelerated rate. :) Will you take the 21 day challenge with me?

Dear Maggie,

I joined this yahoo group years ago when I was intrested in mind machines, etc. Every now and then someone posts info/questions like this: "Since a half a year I am able to see some astral entities in my aura. (I am not joking!!!) Half a year ago I got a Kundalini uprising, since then I can see them. I really would like to get rid of them. I think I have the entities by my history of being with gurus in India. Since I can see these strange beings I feel a little bit uncomfortable about them." So what's this all about?

Dear Mike,

As we open up to our psychic awareness, we are also beginning the stages of awakening our Kundalini. Our Kundalini is the core essence of who we are and this powerful Divine energy is found at the base of our spine coiled 3 1/2 times around and usually "asleep" in most. And in those waking up, they will first have, usually, a striking experience that tells them this is truly Kundalini and not just a crown chakra opening.

The Kundalini will usually rise like an electric shock up the spine first and as it does this it is beginning the clearings of all of the seven main Chakras (or energy centers) in our body. (This is all about what is in my (now) second soon-to-be-published Book. Just have to publish the first one first! Good stuff!) So yes, when opening up psychically and awakening the Kundalini you will be more susceptible to entities (ghosts, astral, alien, etc.). And depending upon your internal strength of frequency or vibration will depend upon what type of entity entities will be attracted to you. So if you are of good energy physically, mentally and emotionally as well as spiritually, filled with integrity, truth and honesty that is what you will attract. If you are mostly of lower energy, always depressed or angry, filled with hate or fear, you will attract that to you.

So it's important to work on our internal energy and strength to be sure we are attracting that which we desire. The Law of Attraction works on all levels.

Yes, our Kundalini will rise if it decides to on its own or we can pursue it either safely or unsafely. Unsafely would be pushing it too hard too fast and therefore having a lot more harsh symptoms than one would ever want or agree to. Safely it the way to go of course, if you want to pursue it. If not, it will rise and fall throughout your life, if you are set to have it do so within your blueprint for life. It may also depend upon your experiences. It can rise due to many reasons, such as intense prayer, meditation, trauma, child birth or just simply beginning to awaken psychically and preferably safely doing things that will awaken your energies in positive and uplifting ways. As we awaken all of our senses become stronger. So our site become clairvoyance (clear-seeing: this is where we can see our aura's, others aura's, spirits, visions, etc.). Our hearing become clairaugenant (clear-hearing) and we can expand our empathy towards others by feeling what they feel (Empathy or Clairsentience) and knowing deeper what we feel, etc. So much fun.

We each have something that is stronger in us than in others. Like for example it is easy for me to see visions and auras. And for Don it's easier for him to feel and know things. For a Medium it is easier for them to hear a message from within and also hear spirits. The first time I meditated I realized it was quite easy for me to see things. However, I needed to work on the rest so they could all work in balance with each other. I still have my strong suits but have worked on hearing the actual message that comes with the visions or feeling something, etc.

Some people can see Spirits and not Auras. And other people can see Auras but not spirits. Some may see both. Usually if you can see Auras you are able to see the blockages or things attached to it, like spirits, entities or just plain old icky energy. The aura is what surrounds our body and makes up the energy that we are as well as what we have come in contact with recently and even years ago. The aura may be diluted, brown, gray or icky in spots. It could have holes or tears. If there is an entity in your aura, you might see the entity that could also be causing a ruckus on the aura. The visions themselves will mean something to the person seeing them and its up to them to properly interpret.

The more we meditate and practice opening up our psychic abilities the easier it will be to use them and work with them. Meditation is one key component to it all. So if you are a able to see visions already, this is one example that shows that you have in the past done the work and have definitely assisted in your own awareness expansion over time.

It's helpful to do a daily chakra and aura cleanse. If you don't you become more susceptible to the energies around you and they just build up. It can be as easy as visually pure divine white light flowing into each chakra and then throughout your entire aura. You can also bask in a peaceful state of being without visualizing if that works for you. Visualizing is a great tool for me as our imagination is our bridge to our intuition and Source. Chakra and Aura guided meditation and cleanses can get more in-depth when you have time. I've got a CD that I've recorded with a cleanse that should be available soon as well. There are tons of meditation sources out there if you want a CD for your daily cleanse.

It's also important to continue to keep your aura and chakras clear, you must do your best to live in the higher vibrations and raise your frequency. By living an honest life filled with integrity and meaning. Following your bliss as well. And doing what works best for your mind, body and soul. Listening to the inner messages of your soul to do what it is asking. Not putting lower vibrational substances in the body is helpful (at least not often). Not being around people that make you feel down and low in energy. Not hanging around places that make you feel down. Then taking it one step further and going after what feels good. Get outside often. Out in nature we are in our element and breathe in the natural prana life force energy. The sun gives this to us naturally. Move the body every day to work out the stagnancy. Eat what lifts your bodies energies. Our bodies are always speaking to us so listen up! :) And if you want to take it one step further, do a good deed or two. This will boost your mood AND your immune system as well as the receivers! :)

The Hereafter
This is an excellent movie! And expecially excellent for anyone who has had a Near Death Experience or who is a Medium and/or a Psychic as well. It's one perspective on how this gift of seeing the Other Side can take its toll. But I found it so interesting. It pulled me right in. I loved how they showed the visions and how they are received. Somewhat accurate to how I receive visions. His were a bit clearer but pretty cool! You'll enjoy the endeding as well I'm sure!
