The Connections Newsletter - November 2009 Edition
with Maggie Anderson
Daily Buddhist Wisdom -
A student asked: "For all the different people who have come to listen to your words, please tell us about the way you have found and known."
The Buddha answered: "When you take things it is because of a thirst, a clinging, and a grasping. You should lose that and lose it altogether, above, below, around, and within. It makes no difference what it is you are grasping. When you grasp, you are losing your freedom. Realize this and grasp at nothing. Then you will cease being a creature of attachment, tied to the powers of death."

A tid bit about this month: "November is the eleventh month in 2009, so we are blessed with the powerful 11:11 numerical frequency throughout this entire month. On November 11 and 29, 2009, we are blessed with 11:11:11 numerical frequency, which will be an incredibly powerful time for all of us." ~ Patricia Diane Cota-Robles, http:/eraofpeace.org
Last month's newsletter was about remaining conscious. My Husband, Don, ever so vigilant had a statement to make and I want to address it briefly here. He states: "Question. Why should we not attach ourselves to the good? Should we not connect with our children? Our family and friends? Isn't this the purpose of attraction? Why visualise if we should not connect? I can understand not attaching to the negative but our discernment is what decides what is positive and what is negative. Making the choice is our gift. It is our nature. Stillness is fine, but without attaching to what we deem to be good, the stillness is simply empty. Sorry Zen Masters, but if given the choice between clinging to those persons and things (or "thoughtforms") which bring me joy and spiritual perfection, I choose the former. That IS my perfection."
I want to share my y response to him here as it is relevant. My response is that I agree. I talked about removing attachment to the good and the bad but rather being in a peaceful accepting place. I know there is middle ground or balance between being in compassion and love of living life while simply "Being" and living in the stillness at the same time. That Stillness IS Joy and Love. It IS the ultimate connection. Connecting with our loved ones does help remind us of that ultimate divine connection. And we can be in that divine place while connecting with the positive side of life and yet the negative side of life. It is all divine. I elaborate so much more in my book that will be out in good time. Till then I hope this clears it up a bit. :) I am not a guru or master. I am you and you are me. We are all just trying to figure it out and in my sharing it is my hope that it assists me in figuring it out as well. :)

Inspirations
The messages from Maggie are channeled to her via her Higher Self, Guides and Angels. Maggie receives these inspirations while in a higher state of awareness. The Angels contribute greatly to channeling these messages, as well as Maggie's Higher Self and Guides; thus from the Oneness of All That Is.
It's So Easy To Forget
It's so easy to forget. It's so easy to fall back into
unconscious living. You're on a high of universal bliss and
then wammo the ego steps in due to a distraction or chaos
with day-to-day living.
We need to remember even especially during mundane or busy
times that we are always and can always be in a constant
state of peace and centeredness even then!
Breathe in the Peace and stillness within you. Drink it in. Stillness is
with you always. For, it IS you. Bliss, Peace, Love,
Stillness, Consciousness; whatever you call it, it is all the
same. And it is your essence. Breathe and feel the peace
underneath all the chatter, thought forms and ego
perceptions.
You can never be lost as you are always found. The more you
shed the unnecessary portions of your ego the more awake and
aware you become of your true essence; your stillness; your
presence in every living moment. Every moment is ALIVE. And
you become aware of it as you recognize those thoughts as not
good, not bad, but just bubbles of energy that you no longer
need to attach to.
As long as there is attachment to the thought, it will exist.
Release the attachment and pure freedom is yours. When you
have that thought of a co-worker conspiring against you or a
wrong-doing by your boss or anyone, release that thought.
Release the attachment to the thought that it is real.
Whether that is true or not matters not. When it is released
you suddenly feel a peace and bliss you never thought
possible. Magic occurs in this moment. The peace you feel is "proof in the pudding" with
regards to your thoughts and emotions (emotions that attach
to those thoughts thereby creating more experiences that
create those thoughts and emotions to continue to stay in
existence) really only being an illusion and only in
existence if you believe it.
While in stillness you will sometimes receive intuitive
guidance that will assist you. You know and feel it is true
because it is something that comes from within, out of that
stillness. And then you listen to the guidance given (whether
that is to take divinely inspired action or not take action
on something). So then move in that present moment whatever it
calls for. If it calls for nothing, then be in that peace.
The more you stay in touch with this inner knowing the easier
it is to remain present and fully conscious.
Flower in your own time. We are all flowering in our own
space and time. Some are at a slow pace and others faster. We
each have a set pace that works for us. Some will flower immediately and most
will go gradually. And for the gradual folks, blissful stillness
starts to show up in spurts and sputters gaining in momentum. It seems to disappear at times. And that is our unconsciousness
coming back in. Just check in as often as you can and remain
present. Be with the present moment always. Breathe and
remember.
If a thought comes in and you notice suffering (Resistance &
Attachment = Suffering), just come to the remembrance of
your true essence and release the thought to the ethers. Do not resist the uncomfortable emotions or thoughts, but rather let them pass on by. Allow them to exist rather than burying them deep down. These will only boil over for an explosion later. By allowing them to exist they dissipate much faster. Kim Eng notes that you can release an emotion in 20 seconds if you remain present with it. 20 seconds! That's amazing. Not minutes, or hours, or days or weeks or years! 20 seconds if you allow it to be what it is. It's made manifest so it must run its course. It doesn't have to build upon itself by repressing it or dwelling on it in a wallowing state. If can be allowed and most important ACCEPTED as it is and it will disappear.
As Kim Eng shared during the seminar I attended, become the bamboo. Inside a piece of bamboo it is hollow. This is a wonderful goal to strive for within the self. Allow thoughts and emotions to flow in and flow back out. It need not stick for long. Simply follow divine guidance that comes in and allow the thoughts and emotions to flow on through.
If
you are in an enjoyable moment, enjoy it but have *no*
attachment to it so that it can be what it is to be and you
do not suffer if or rather when the enjoyable moment passes. Remaining in stillness you will always have a peace with you
no matter what "good" or "bad" moment is happening in the
present.
So become conscious. Really check in with yourself in every
moment. Bring more of you out and more of your higher self
through you to the world by being conscious. Pay attention to
your environment, your feelings, your thoughts, your
reactions, synchronicities that happen in your life, to nature, your
loved ones, and strangers. Pay attention. Connect with the Self
and the world. Staying conscious allows your light to
consistently shine. It also feels so much better! When you go
through emotions they can transpire in the present moment and
dissipate much faster! Allow what is to exist and
transform all you see into light simply by recognizing the
light within all you see! :)
Here is an awesome exercises in consciousness from Matt Kahn of True Divine Nature: "Close your eyes and ask: Is there a who that is here or is here what's here?" Pause to feel the knowing. Here is what's here. "If there is no specific who that exists out of a temporary image, how do you know that the thoughts in your mind are yours? For example if you are thinking, 'I am ____/blank'. It's just a thought that suggests that there is an I seeing or feeling this way. How do you know that that thought that you are hearing pertains to you if there is no "who" that is here? Everything is consciousness, there's a thought and consciousness is believing it. "Who" is the consciousness of thought believing in itself." This exercise is found in the video section of Matt's website dated 8/19/09. When I do this exercise I become so aware of the true awareness that is within. I am that and it has always been and always will be.
I've received a question this month that has turned into Part
2 of this article, so I must send you on down this web page
to read the "Dear Maggie" column for more on remain present,
conscious and staying in your peace and bliss.
:)
Enjoy, live, laugh and love always!

Dear Maggie
QUESTION
Dear Maggie
"Dear Maggie, please help me know in my heart, what is my bliss. How can I truly know it?
I am 50 years old and am still searching, practicing and trying to be whole. I hope this new relationship will be a fruitful one for both of us."
~ Kathleen
Dear Kathleen,
Although raising your vibration is a key factor in coming more fully into alignment with your bliss (that also eliminates lower vibrational frequencies and/or negativity that can affect staying in alignment) there is more to this answer. It's coming into your being fully 100% without the clutter of the ego that assists you in following your bliss or Divine Destiny of Service. It's a coming back to what you already are. I talk a lot about this in my book which I promise will be out in good time. I had hoped the beginning of this year so now I will simply have to say soon because timing is not in my control (that would be ego if I thought so).
Your bliss is inside you. It IS you. We all have two main purposes in life, as I've said in times past. One is our primary goal of remembering who we truly are and that is our Divine essence and living in the present moment with this always. The secondary goal is living our destiny of service. For some their service actually is only their primary goal of finding their true essence or rather remembering it and being that. For others it is doing something. For others it is doing and then remembering it is not in the doing but the being and coming back to the primary goal and back and forth until they are there completely. Am I making sense here?
Each person needs something different to get them "there" (to Bliss, Peace, or Stillness). For each person it is described differently but the goal is always the same. Your bliss, passion or happiness is about obtaining stillness, presence, a constant state of love or bliss. You can have this while doing your passion in life as well as while taking out the trash. It is a constant state of being felt in all the things that you do.
Recently I've come to embrace more fully the fact that I don't need to accomplish many things by doing but rather have a balance in the yin and the yang and allow doing and non-doing when the time is called for. It's been a fun ride and I'm sure I'll receive many more reminders as I raise my frequency. Balance is key. You are able to ride the middle line of being and, when you are intuitively guided, by doing. But our ego's tend to get in the way A LOT and tell us we "should" be doing something and we "should" be accomplishing a goal. When sometimes that is just not called for. It is not necessary to always do. That is a social conditioning that our ego plays part in. We are here for a reason and we can honor that, but we must honor our true divine essence too.
Following your bliss is about staying in line and authentic with your true self. Not listening to other people or past conditionings about what should happen in your life. Not listening to your ego's expectations. But listening to your heart. Get still with yourself. Remove the clutter; remove old thoughts. Thoughts will be there, but if you become conscious of them , then you can step back and be the observer and feel underneath all of that for your true divine guidance system. Your heart and soul know the truth. You can feel it.
If you are not being pulled anywhere right now, that is perfectly divine! If you are being pulled somewhere, then check in with full presence about your next steps.
If you are being pulled in many directions, check in again. Check in and see what is your ego telling you that you "should" do and what is your heart pulling you towards. You are always being divinely, lovingly guided. (Remember your true guidance system is loving and guiding; never negative or ego-based.) Breathe and really take the time to sit with this. Maybe there are a few things that you like and need to simply take it one step at a time and know that time does not exist so it does not all have to be done today. It's not the end result that matters, it's the ride. This journey we are on is about enjoying it right NOW. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to rush rush rush to this thing or that and finish that to get to the next thing and I don't know that I was every really present with many of the things I accomplished. Now I do my best and really check in to see what I am really being called to do and then follow it one blissful moment at a time without rushing to the next thing. I enjoy what is right now as much as I can.
There are challenges and I attempt to face them with presence. If I forget I try my best not to let my ego step into the back door and judge me for forgetting. It's so easy to forget. It's so easy to become unconscious but we simply just come back to it. All it takes is one breath and you're back. Fully presence. Your breath is always in the present moment so breathe and be aware.
The remembrance that you already are whole is a key factor. Come into this awareness with Meditation and Breath Awareness. A dedicated consistent practice is best for more potent results. Do what you can when you can. Breathing has been a consistent guidance I have given to many people just this week. So it is not a coincidence that it is coming up here again to elaborate upon. Conscious breathing is so important. Take Breathing breaks (if you are not already) and of course meditation breaks where you can do conscious breathing. Breathing breaks like really consciously breathing in and out slowly and deeply, using the full capacity of your lungs. Really watching the breath. Becoming present. Massaging the body with your breath. As you breathe in consciously visualize your body being filled up with prana energy that the air is filled with. Feel your body immediately relax and de-stress. You can do this now while you read. You can do it at a traffic light or while standing in line or in the middle of a stressful situation. Just breathe, relax and let go. Feel your body energize and rejuvenate in only a minute of conscious breathing. Do this as many times as you can remember daily. Your breath is always in the present moment and as you do this you become more present and more aware that no matter where you are, you are in bliss and peace and stillness. You are the awareness underneath your thoughts (as Eckhart Tolle will remind us). So for you the guidance is in meditation, breathing and becoming more fully conscious so that you can more clearly hear the guidance that is always coming from your heart and soul. Come to that state of being and you will know that you are right where you need to be in every moment.
Remember you are always right where you need to be. And when you are more consciously awake and aware you can more easily hear your own innate divine guidance. :)
Blessings,
Maggie

Favorite Books, photos and/or Videos of the Month:
I've embraced video land and had to face facts that most of my time is spend on you tube and watching little video clips online. So with that said, I must include a favorite video from time to time sometimes in place of books. Enjoy!
Video: Bodhisattva in Metro
A beautiful way to bring joy to the seemingly mundane existance.
Photos: Buddha Pears! :)
Check it out! Buddha shaped pears are seen in an orchard in Weixian county, Hebei province
September 10, 2009. Hao Xianzhang, a local farmer, spent six years to perfect the
process by growing the pears inside moulds, local media reported. The pears cost
around 50 yuan (7.32 USD) each. Picture taken September 10, 2009.
Video: Nifty Affirmations Nature video
Sit back and enjoy.

Favorite Spiritual Movie of the Month:
Pay It Forward
I talk about this concept a lot in my book and the movie is superb to watch,
enjoy and live! Pay It Forward is about giving to others freely and only asking that
they give to another as they have received from you as their "payment". Giving with
gratitude is the greatest gift of all. One can ponder if the gift is for the
receiver or truly the giver. mmmm.... :)
